WTO recently made special announcements- the end of fishing subsidies to illegal fisheries and a partial IP waiver for the in-house production and export of vaccines in developing nations. The fishing subsidy rule-outs in a short span of 7 years seem to result in undesirable consequences for the developing nations’ fishing industries, making India strongly oppose such a deal and demanding revisions. India urged the developed countries to slash their 22% non-fuel subsidies as the first step. Will the developed nations rule over the developing ones, or the WTO shall make a mid-way out of the deadlock?
