Catastrophe bonds (cat bonds) are insurance-linked securities that provide investors the opportunity to take on the risk of natural disasters in exchange for attractive returns. In a year of financial market volatility, cat bonds have stood out, delivering returns of approximately 13%, far surpassing the performance of US Treasury bonds and the S&P 500, both of which struggled. This performance is due to the low correlation of cat bonds with broader financial markets, making them resilient during market turbulence. As global natural disaster risks continue to rise, insurers have turned to cat bonds to manage these challenges. With strong investor interest and record issuances, catastrophe bonds offer an appealing option for those seeking stability and growth in unpredictable markets.

Ethereum has rebounded over 12%, approaching the $1,800 mark, driven by global macroeconomic optimism, a narrowing price gap between Ethereum futures and spot markets, and continued large investor accumulation. Despite $1bn in outflows from U.S. Ethereum ETFs, strong investor support signals confidence in Ethereum’s long-term potential. Positive economic forecasts and bullish sentiment in the broader crypto market contribute to this recovery. The upcoming Pectra upgrade is expected to improve Ethereum’s scalability, solidifying its long-term growth prospects.
